Harvest

I’m fascinated by humanity’s ability to cultivate and draw the best from nature. Through my lifelong involvement with horses, I spent a lot of time in the countryside, having gained insight into agricultural life from an early age. In the past, people were better at managing resources—something I wanted to apply in this project. Nearby the stables I found an old abandoned metal hay tedder, a farming implement used to turn hay in the field to speed up drying. I saw beautiful shapes in the hay tedder, so I deconstructed it and welded the pieces into new patterns creating moulds for glassblowing.

The Harvest, a series of vases, bowls and platters in various sizes created at the Orranäs Glassworks, working with some of the most talented glassblowers in Sweden. In the process, we dip the glass into the tedder moulds. The agricultural tools used fot the moulds are leaving traces in the crystal from a bygone era, while creating a new, poetic and unexpected visual expression.
